In the first days of 2007, coming out of my apartment in Bucharest, I saw a dumped Christmas tree. Then another one further down the street, and then some more. My discovery led to 3 days of walking around my neighbourhood and taking photos (over 200) of abandoned Christmas trees. After seeing several hundreds of trees, it seemed like the places I was going through had been the scene of a massacre, with trees taking the place of bodies. It felt like an immense injustice and waste.

One year later, in January 2008, I continued the project by actually gathering around 60 Christmas trees and recreating a very small forest. This was part of the re_luare event in Bucharest, that I have organized together with Elena Ciobanu and Mircea Nicolae.
